How to Apply for the 9 11 Victims Compensation Fund (VCF)

NEW VCF REGISTRATION DEADLINES

This change addresses concerns about claimants who missed prior deadlines because they did not know that the VCF existed or was open to them, did not know that their condition (or the death of their loved one) was related to 9/11 exposure, or did not realize that they were eligible to file a VCF claim or that the VCF would be in place beyond the previous 2020 end date. Additional details about registration and claim filing deadlines are listed below:

REGISTRATION AND CLAIM FILING DEADLINES SEPTEMBER 11th VICTIM COMPENSATION FUND (“VCF”)

There are two steps in the VCF claim filing process, each of which has a separate deadline:
Step 1: Register by July 29, 2021: Registration preserves your right to file a claim in the future. By
registering with the VCF, you do not waive any legal rights, and there is no obligation to file a
claim in the future. To register with the VCF you must do one of the following:
*Use the online system to submit your Registration Form. https://www.vcf.gov/register.html
*Call the VCF Helpline at 1-855-885-1555 to register by phone.

Step 2: Complete and submit your claim form and all supporting documents by October 1, 2090:
Although you may register with the VCF at any time prior to July 29, 2021, you should wait to
file your claim until you have been certified for treatment by the WTC Health Program for a
9/11-related physical condition. The deadline for all claims and supporting documents to be
