Every day across America, parents and caregivers drive young children to and from school, daycare, the store, and around town in car seats and boosters. Yet nearly half of all car seats are installed incorrectly, which means your child may not be traveling as safely as possible.

To help keep children safe on our roads, NHTSA is sponsoring Child Passenger Safety Week , which is always the 3rd week in September.  The goal is to make sure your child is in the correct car seat, that it’s properly installed and used.

Register your car seat to receive important safety updates

Registering your seat makes sense: It gives the manufacturer the ability to contact you about recalls and safety notices. It’s also easy: Just send in the card that came with your car seat or fill out a simple form on the manufacturer’s website.

Get Help Checking Your Car Seat – Your child’s safety could depend on it.

If you have a car seat in your vehicle, visit a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician in your community or virtually to double-check that it’s correctly installed and that you’re using it correctly.  On National Seat Check Saturday, a number of inspection stations are offering car seat checks virtually or in person.
